April Favorites- Beauty Products Worth Buying
30 April 2020 • acne prone skin April Favorites Beauty cocoa butter lotion combination skin dry skin Lifestyle Monthly Favorites Neutrogena Acne Wash Rachel Green Witch Hazel witch hazel for acne
I have tried different products this month-makeup, skincare, and bath essentials. I have gathered the products that made to my "monthly favorites" and I am also sharing why I am so obsessed with them.
This month, my current issues are my persistent acne (which I am still facing but luckily, it is improving) and dry skin. Due to the change of season here in Dubai, my skin gets dry and dehydrated. I searched online for products that will solve my skin problems. As for my acne, thank goodness for the tips I have found on Pinterest which are a total life savers!
For each product below, I have put the link where I have ordered them online and the physical stores where I purchased them.
1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash- iHerb UAE
I have tried various facial washes and acne bar soaps before. Some of them worked short term and some didn't really help. After 2 weeks of use, it lessened my breakouts, my skin didn't purge severely, and it makes my face hydrated. This product also contain salicylic acid which is an acne-fighting ingredient and helps unclogging pores. What I love more about this product is that it doesn't leave my skin dry and tight after every wash, reduces redness of acnes, leaves my skin smooth despite that it has salicylic acid which is also an exfoliant.
2. T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel- iHerb UAE
This product is so hyped up everywhere that is why I gave it a try. I saw this from a girl on Pinterest, who shared that she religiously used this everyday and it helped in cleansing her face, especially her pores, calms skin irritations, and reduces oiliness on the face. I was currently on a hunt to finding a toner that will cleanse my face without leaving it dry and rough. This witch hazel did help in removing unwashed dirt on my face and helps in minimizing my pores. The only downside of this product, for me, is its strong scent which is very alcohol-y. Aside from that, this product definitely does its purpose.
3. Nubian Heritage African Black Soap- iHerb UAE
This is the soap I use at night, which also fights acne. I like the scent of this soap and how soft it leaves my skin. It has solid particles in the bar soap, which doesn't affect its gentleness on the skin. It is not irritating, it is made from natural ingredients, and a bar will definitely last because it suds quickly.
4. Vaseline Coco Radiant Lotion- Carrefour (it is available in any grocery store)
MY FAVORITE LOTION EVER!! Well, aside from the aesthetic of the packaging (it really attracts my eyes), it leaves my skin glowing! I am using too many exclamation point because this product deserves all the rave reviews. Before I use this twice a day, and only using at night now, because I bought another skin-soothing lotion (you'll find out later). Only 3 days of use and I was already seeing visible results. Even without touching my skin, I already know how smooth and soft it feels. It really gives the glow you want on your skin and the scent, oh the cocoa butter, lasts the whole day! One advice I can give you, buy this lotion!
5. Benefit Cha Cha Tint- Sephora UAE
Back when I was still attending to the office, this is my holy grail makeup product. I use this on my cheeks and on my lips and the pigment lasts all day. I don't need to reapply as it stays on my skin and lips despite the sweat and lots of water that I drink. Previously, I was using the Benetint, from the same brand. Nothing bad with this product except that I just wanted to try a different product and a different shade. Cha Cha Tint has a thicker formula than Benetint, but both gives color and life to my face.
6. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion- Carrefour (it is available in any grocery store)
We all know that this product, I mean the whole line from this brand, has been ins topres for quite some time now. I regret that I bought this lotion just recently. Why didn't anyone tell me how great a bottle is? One, the scent, cocoa butter, my favorite. Two, a little goes a long way. Three, it is so effective in leaving my skin soft and radiant. Four, it reduces the appearance of scars and smoothens dry and rough skin. Five, it is so affordable. What's not to love? (heart eyes everywhere indeed!)
7. MAC Lipstick- Paramount- MAC UAE
I love how this shade is so flexible- flexible in a way, how hard or soft you glide it on your lips, the shade is beautiful! It has a satin finish, although even MAC's matte lipstick are not drying at all, this gives my lips a moisturized feeling. Also, have I already told you this is the exact lipstick that Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green) used in Friends? :)I want to hear your current obsessions for this month! What are your April Favorites? Share them in the comments below.
Skincare Review: Some By Mi's V10 Pure Vitamin C Soap
13 September 2019 • 30 day miracle soap Beauty Dubai glass skin korean skincare Skincare skincare routine some by mi V10 Pure Vitamin C Soap
For some time now, I have found a bar soap that effectively attends to my primary skin problem which is keeping my acne at bay. However, impulsivity hit me and I bought another soap of the same brand to test and compare its performance on my skin.
SOME BY MI has become a well-known Korean skincare brand when, from what I can remember, they created an online buzz with their 30 Day Miracle skincare set and a lot of beauty influencers and skincare enthusiasts uploaded their reviews on the products. Hence, I was intrigued, then immediately convinced of the promising reviews so I bought my first bar soap.
I decided to purchase the V10 Pure Vitamin C Soap due to its brightening and radiant effect on the skin and also the use of natural ingredients (not to mention, their little experiment on their video advertisement that really made me buy it). Initially, I expected that this soap will give me what it promised to do and will also take about 2-3 months to consume.
First try, I was amazed by its instant brightening effect after lathering it on my face. It wasn't drying and felt that my skin was completely cleansed even without using a cleanser brush. A week has passed and I was beginning to be unimpressed by it due to three reasons- 1. The brightening effect is only after every wash, 2. My face looks oily, not dewy-looking oily, but really oily especially on my forehead, and lastly 3. The soap easily runs out. I do not have any before and after photos to display the progress as it did not have lasting effects on me, although I should have kept some documentation still.
FINAL VERDICT
The soap did brighten my face only after cleansing. I expected it to lighten up my acne scars even just to a minimum amount because it contains Vitamin C, which helps with pigmentation, but unfortunately, it did not work. Also, I hated that my skin turned out oily afterwards and sometimes caused breakouts. Additionally, unlike the Miracle Soap bar which I can keep for 3 months, the V10 Pure Vitamin C Soap only took me 2-3 weeks to use the whole soap.
Will I repurchase? No, I think I would just return to using the Miracle Soap Bar and stick to it to meet the needs of my skin. In general, the V10 Pure Vitamin C Soap did not give significant improvement to my skin, although it grants complete cleansing and removes dirt off your face.
I will try to post more reviews on the products I will be incorporating to my skincare routine, as well as the new products I'll be trying for the first time. If you got any questions or comments, you're free to drop them below in the comment section. 'Til next time! :)
My 3 Skincare Empties and Here's Why I Will Repurchase
10 August 2019 • Beauty Bio-oil Bioderma Skincare Skincare Empties The Ordinary
Upon arriving in Dubai, I've been more dedicated to taking care of my skin since I witnessed the winter season which caused my skin to dry and of course summer, that keeps my skin oily and acne-prone. So I did my fair share and searched for suitable products to combat my skin problems. I made sure that I picked the right products that I will apply on my face because I have sensitive skin and I don't want to worsen my skin condition.
Below are the three products that I have emptied (some are almost empty) and my, perhaps, convincing reasons why I will buy them again. A little forewarning, in case you are interested in testing out the following products- the products did address the needs of my skin but it does not automatically mean that it may also work for you. Take note that we have different skin types and we must research the applicable products for our skin.
Bioderma Créaline H2O Solution Micellaire Cleanser
I must say this is a two-in-one product for me- makeup remover and toner. When I'm wearing makeup, I use this to wipe my makeup off and apply another swipe after washing my face.
Unlike the other toners that I have tried, this doesn't sting, effectively removes makeup and excess dirt on my face (that didn't come off with my facial cleanser), gentle on the skin and non-drying, unscented, and the best part- it's best for sensitive skin.
The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%- My oily skin produces more acne and I've been trying to prevent it for a long time now and none actually worked wonders. Not until I've heard about this magic serum. I've watched and read reviews on Youtube and from multiple blogs that shared their experiences and their verdict about this product. I purchased mine from Glamazle after being persuaded by how it improved the breakouts of those who religiously used it.
Buying it was not a wrong choice. In fact, it was the total opposite! After 3 weeks of regular use, it did reduce my breakouts, helped in minimizing my overly large pores, brightens my skin tone, and improved the appearance of my blemishes. I do have a say about its smell but it is fairly tolerable. After all, it does what it promises. An additional reason why I love and will repurchase this serum is that this single bottle lasted for four months. FOUR MONTHS. That will help you save cash for your next purchase or for other skincare products you wish to add to your routine.
Two drops are enough to cover the whole face. I apply it in a tapping motion as it what the others recommend doing, wait for it to dry and proceed to lather heavier creams.
Bio-Oil Skincare Oil
A cult favorite, miracle product, and a must-buy- definitely my mainstay in fading acne marks. This is the product I apply before moisturizer which completely seals all that I have applied on my face.
I've noticed how unbelievably fast it faded my acne marks (approximately up to 2 weeks). Not only it clears scars, but it also nourishes my skin and prevents it from being dry and flaky.
It fades my acne marks, brightens my skin tone, hydrates my skin, and leaves a glowy finish when you wake up.
All these products have become a staple part of my skincare routine and really helped with improving my skin condition, although my skin is still far from perfect. What about your skincare empties, or other beauty products you will continue to repurchase? I'd love to read them in the comment section below!
I always have things on my mind that I want to buy- shoes, clothes, accessories, etc. Whenever I'm at the mall or I'm shopping, I always forgot to buy my 'wants' and instead I always bought the things that caught my attention- bye bye money *cries*
